Progressing Ballet Technique at EVBA

Dress Code

East Valley Ballet Academy has a dress code for each level to create a uniform look and assist instructors in viewing the body for corrections. Furthermore, the physical transition of changing into special ballet clothes helps the student mentally prepare to focus and assists in learning.

What’s a ballet bun?

A ballet bun is a classical hairstyle used by dancers that serves both a functional and aesthetic purpose. It keeps the hair secure and away from the face and provides a clean line. The hair is first secured in a ponytail and is then wrapped in a coil around the ponytail and secured with bobby pins. You can watch this quick tutorial for help with bun-making technique! Students with hair that is too short for a bun may secure it back in a ponytail, a headband, or barrettes.
