Before & After Class
Students should be dressed in uniform and have their hair properly done for class. Please have younger children use the restroom before class. We are responsible for your children during class time. However, you are responsible for their behavior and safety before and after class. No running, horseplay or other activities are to take place in the lobby. Please be prompt for pick-up of your dancer after class. If an EVBA staff member must stay late to attend to your child, you may be charged $1/minute after a 5-minute grace period. Only parents and approved adults may pick up children. Note: For safety and security, we have security camera installed.
What do I do if I’m going to be late?
If you are going to be late, let us know by phone, text (480-420-7323) or email (firstname.lastname@example.org) prior to class start time and we’ll let your teacher know! Students should arrive to class early; 10 minutes prior to the start of class is best. If the student arrives for class more than 10 minutes late, the instructor may not allow him/her to take class. The full barre warm-up is important for safety.

How can I make up a missed class?
Students are allowed one make-up class per month within 30 days from when the original absence at the student’s level or below. Absences must be reported by phone, text (480-420-7323) or email (email@example.com) to the studio prior to class start time to qualify for make-up classes. Missed class can be made up at the student’s level or below. Lower level classes are always a benefit to a student as they provide additional technique training, which serves as the foundation of ballet. No refunds or credits will be given for missed classes.
Is there a dress code?
Yes. Dress codes help minimize distraction and create a professional appearance. See our dress code information. During the Summer, we allow students to wear their choice and color of dance attire.
What’s a ballet bun and how do I manage my child’s hair?
A ballet bun is a classical hairstyle used by dancers that serves both a functional and aesthetic purpose. It keeps the hair secure and away from the face and provides a clean line. The hair is first secured in a ponytail and is then wrapped around in a coil around the ponytail and secured with bobby pins. You can watch this quick tutorial for help with bun-making technique!
When can my child start pointe class?
To be considered for beginning pointe, students must be in Ballet Level 3, at least 11 years old, and currently taking at least two Level 3 ballet classes per week. In addition, the approval of one of EVBA’s directors is required.
Food and Belongings
No food or drink except water is allowed in the studios. Gum is not allowed. Please respect the studio facilities and throw any trash away in proper receptacles. EVBA is not liable for any lost or stolen items, and we suggest labeling everything. Belongings left at the studio will be placed in the lost and found in the back hall.
There is a four-student minimum for a class to be held. Each class has a maximum limit and will be closed to registration once filled. We reserve the right to cancel any class without the required four-student minimum.
